I just joined an exciting new campaign--a growing global chorus calling on world leaders to lead the way towards a clean energy economy.
It’s called “Put Solar On It”, and I just signed the call to get world leaders to install solar panels on their rooftop on 10/10/10 -- and pass clean energy policies that make it possible for everyone in our country to join in the clean energy future. Now is our chance to shine.
Will you join me in this call to action by visiting the link below?
It takes less than 30 seconds to sign on--just visit www.PutSolarOn.It to get started.
Thanks!

A Toothbrush for Change !
I found a toothbrush that is made from recycled yogurt cups and is able to be recycled when you are done using it. In fact, the company provides a mail-in envelope for you to do so.
The brush, called PRESERVE, is designed by dentists, made in the U.S.A., and affordable ($2.99 at Whole Foods)
Now, you might be thinking, how can a toothbrush help our world? Recently I saw a photo of the Pacific Gyre. This part of the ocean collects all the plastic thrown into the seas due to ocean currents. It is reportedly at least as large as the size of Texas, and some estimates have it as large as the entire continental United States. (It is not visible by satellite.) It has become known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
Guess what was front and center in the photo of the gyre that I saw -- a toothbrush !
I know that as I write this millions of gallons of oil are spewing into the Gulf Coast. I can't do much about that, and I do feel pretty helpless/hopeless at times.
But, I can begin by taking small steps (literally) .... driving less, eating less meat, eating sardines (yes sardines), turning off the lights/water, trying some Guayaki Tea, and buying a PRESERVE toothbrush. It all adds up. And until our government and major corporations get their acts together, we can all stop pointing fingers, take daily actions, and smile....
We will all look and feel better too - especially after brushing with our new toothbrush !

Black Gold
I am finding it unbelievable that even as oil is gushing from the Deep Water Horizon, there are folks in Alaska advocating for more drilling.... "drill, baby, drill." We use oil for everything from crayons to plastic to asphalt. I often think of the old Sherwin-Williams paint sign showing a picture of the globe dripping with paint and the words, "We Cover The Earth."
I am thinking that we need to replace the image of paint with the black slick of oil. Soon we will
be oiled -- inside and out.

What Health Care Reform?
Guess that it is time to revisit this 6 minute Bill Moyer clip during which Health Care Executive, Wendell Potter discusses how the Health Care Industry blocked the documentary movie Sicko ..... just as they have done with the Health Care Bill that tried to include either a government option or a Medicare Option for seniors 55 - 64.
